General note | Caption title. |
General note | Four contributions, signed: A Philadelphian. Probably originally printed in a newspaper or periodical. |
General note | Authorship is acknowledged by Caldwell in his "Catalogue of the published writings ..." (written as he states, partly from memory) appended to his Autobiography, Philadelphia, 1855. It is listed on p. 430 under the date 1805, which appears to be erroneous. |
General note | Presents criticisms of the organization and functions of the Board of Health, as established by the Act of April 1, 1799, which was to continue in force for three years, and which was to terminate "at the close of the next session of the legislature" (p. 2); and proposes reforms to be included in the forthcoming new Act. Some of these suggestions were incorporated in the Act for establishing an health office passed April 1, 1983. Probably between July 1802 (cf. note p. 9) and April 1, 1803. |
Reproduction note | Microfilm. New Haven, Conn., Research Publications, 1973. (Early American medical imprints, 1668-1820, reel 22, no. 396) |
